The Dawn Chorus / The Retrospective Soundtrack Players - Blogging all over the World

My name is Kyle. I am a happily failing indie/punk/folk/country/rock musician from Hampshire, UK. I have been singing and songwriting in The Dawn Chorus since 2005, and The Retrospective Soundtrack Players since 2010. I love these two bands like my brother/wife rolled into one. This blog details the shows I have played with both bands, in chronological order.

III - Southampton Joiners - 22nd December 2005

Southampton Joiners
22nd December 2005

Wireless
Silent Radio
The Dawn Chorus
Afrosnatchers

First and foremost a massive thanks to everybody who made the trip, we really do value your support. We had a great time - sold a load of cds and got plenty of names on the mailing list so we're dead chuffed. Set-wise, Everest and s'Alright went really well on their debut airings, and Footprints went down fantastically well to close the set. Sorry clewee, no Party Hard this time round but maybe one day in the future. Well done the Afrosnatchers too, really enjoyed your set. All in all a fantastic shindig, but remember people - the Dawn Chorus are for life, not just for Christmas. Every vote counts - nobody else will vote for you. Stick with the Dawn Chorus; a band for all seasons, a band that cares. Merry Christmas k x

II - Portsmouth Edge of the Wedge - 20th December 2005

Portsmouth Edge of the Wedge
Tuesday 20th December

Mr Sound Engineer(?)
Andy & Jack
The Dawn Chorus

An unusual gig! Actually went well considering certain members of the band weren't exactly squirming with excitement at the prospect of an acoustic gig. Plus - 2 beers each and 40 quid! The piggy bank was bulging by the end of the night. We thoroughly enjoyed the other acts too, Andy & Jack with some great 60s/70s covers - Lindisfarne! yes! - and Mr Soundman headlining (sorry i didn't catch your name mate but beautiful tunes). Looking forward to Thursday at the joiners - see you then.

I - Winchester Railway - 7th December 2005

Winchester Railway Inn
7th December 2005

Get Amped
Tamerlane
The Undefined
The Dawn Chorus

Well it could have been better but it could have been worse. Many lyrics/chords/solos forgotten, one guitar came unplugged (may have been mine), but that's what the first gig is all about. On the plus side; got a decent reaction and keef was solid as a rock on bass, as always. Hilarious moment when nobody clapped the first song though, can't wait to see that on camera - we may have to get it up on the website actually. So generally we came away feeling good, and looking forward to more gigs closer to home. Merry Christmas k x
