The Dawn Chorus / The Retrospective Soundtrack Players - Blogging all over the World

My name is Kyle. I am a happily failing indie/punk/folk/country/rock musician from Hampshire, UK. I have been singing and songwriting in The Dawn Chorus since 2005, and The Retrospective Soundtrack Players since 2010. I love these two bands like my brother/wife rolled into one. This blog details the shows I have played with both bands, in chronological order.

XXXIV - Southampton Unit 22 - 17/09/06

Southampton Unit 22
Sunday September 17th

They Don't Sleep
The Strange Death of Liberal England
Brenda
The Dawn Chorus

After our long and leisurely summer break, we returned to what's probably my favourite bill that we've played on. I never thought that in my life we'd be on a bill before Brenda's head-melting hugeness, but variety is the spice of this sorry existence and long may it continue. It was good fun getting back into the swing of it, and although we were a little rusty i reckon we did alright. Played new song 'Stay Sober' (with myself playing electric guitar for the first time ever (ARGH)) and it seemed to go alright. Except my squire - as much as i love it - simply refuses to stay in tune so that will have to be looked at.

The rest of the night was good fun also, although the proggy post-rock was starting to make my head hurt after a little while, simply due to the quantity. They don't sleep are still one of my favourite unsigned bands though, and lovely folks to boot, although their Sheffield accents need a little work.
