The Dawn Chorus / The Retrospective Soundtrack Players - Blogging all over the World

My name is Kyle. I am a happily failing indie/punk/folk/country/rock musician from Hampshire, UK. I have been singing and songwriting in The Dawn Chorus since 2005, and The Retrospective Soundtrack Players since 2010. I love these two bands like my brother/wife rolled into one. This blog details the shows I have played with both bands, in chronological order.

XLVIII - Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms - 21/02/07

Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms
Gig for Africa!
Wednesday 21st February 2007

The Dawn Chorus
The Waysters
The Stations
The Gun Show
Rivers of Sound

Earlist Soundcheck so far - 5 o'clock! At least we had time to get a decent feed before we played. Topping a 5 band bill is very daunting, especially when doors aren't til 8. Our stage time was 10.55 but we didn't get on til 11.05. The night had gone on for so long that we just did a 7 song set. And it was alright, the atmosphere was much better than our last Wedge gig, or our last show at Unitt 22 on Sunday, probably because the bill made sense and wasn't just thrown together without any thought. As for the other bands, The Rivers sounded pretty slick but were on very early, The Gun Show had a new brass section called The Shiny Shoes, I enjoyed The Stations as always and The Waysters were even more rock'n'roll than last time we bumped into them. But isn't trashing dressing rooms a little cliched darling? How they mustered the energy to trash it after all those 'special' cigarettes I will never know. But they were nice lads and played well. And that's about it for another day. Oh, the promoter, in all her experience, forgot to take our ticket money at the end of the night! Bless. It's all for 'charity' so I suppose we'd better hand it over really.
