My name is Kyle. I am a happily failing indie/punk/folk/country/rock musician from Hampshire, UK. I have been singing and songwriting in The Dawn Chorus since 2005, and The Retrospective Soundtrack Players since 2010. I love these two bands like my brother/wife rolled into one. This blog details the shows I have played with both bands, in chronological order.

St Philip's Church, Cambridge
The Retrospective Soundtrack Players
Subzar
Rue Royale
Negatives:
- This gig was in a church and hence ridiculously cold.
- The PA was terrible, and although the sound guys did a valiant job, it just wasn't appropriate for a six-piece band.
- We didn't have time to go to Fopp or Nanna Mexico :(
Positives:
- There were two massive screens on which we beamed visuals from Cool Hand Luke while we played the appropriate songs.
- Our buddy Fred from Wisconsin came over just to see it! Although he nearly didn't, arriving 5 mins before stage time.
- We saw lots of good friends, which was great when you consider that Cambridge isn't exactly central.
So 3-3 in terms of pro's and cons. It felt like a 3-3 gig. Although we probably lost on away goals because we left a camera tripod in Cambridge... idiots.

Manchester Gorilla
Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls
The Retrospective Soundtrack Players
Yeah, playing to a crowd! Whoo! Fun show and Frank was great. Happy 2013!

Leeds Royal Park Cellars
The Retrospective Soundtrack Players
Charlie Barnes
Red Mercury
A day in Leeds with RSP:
- Long drive. Leeds is too far away. But it is nice to live in a country where you can do a one-off gig at the other end of the land.
- Red Mercury were great and Charlie Barnes is just on another planet. Don't ever go on stage after him if you can help it - he's insanely talented. It's not fair.
- We were plagued by constant sound problems, which but a downer on an otherwise decent gig. Although, oddly, two guys kept yelling for me to take my shirt off. I was going to do it if we got an encore call, but we didn't.
- Charlie and his friends then took us to a great club were we boogied to classic soul and drank rum for a very long time. We then got in a taxi with a mad Ghanaian guy who had his mate in the passenger seat, abused other cars and drove at 60mph on roads with a 30 limit. If we weren't all drunk we may have objected, but he was pretty cheap.
